ZCOOP Lifestyle Article
One of my biggest writing projects was to write a feature article for ZCOOP. ZCOOP is an online content platform for e-commerce brand Zalora. This task was given to me as part of my News and Feature Writing Module. We were tasked to interview a local entrepreneur or influencer. I managed to interview Rachell Tan (PXDKitty), a local blogger in Singapore.
Based on the insightful interview, I wrote a feature article on lifestyle blogging based on Rachell's own experiences. From this project I learned the basics of feature writing such as how to interview people and how to engage specific readers with my content. The article can be seen below.

The Talkshow By DMC
One of my other major writing projects was to write a script for a talkshow that I produced with my classmates for our Radio and Tv Production Module. I was the co-writer and co-host for the production. This project went on for two months before we filmed the actual live show. Our talkshow was comedy shows targeted towards students with segments on funny life hacks and a back to school fashion parody.
We also interviewed two students and played a school styling game with them. This project has thought me how strenuous it is to prepare for just a simple 30 minute show. This also gave me a chance to enhance my writing skills my trying a comedic genre. The full video can be seen below.
MEDIUM
In addition to my school projects, I have also done some free-lance writing. I currently write on Medium, an online writing platform that allows me to connect with writers from all over the world. I pretty much write about almost anything under the sun as Medium allows me to read up on various topics that provide me with inspiration. Here's a short excerpt from one of my pieces entitled "Let's talk about people."
I live for the moments that everyone faces everyday and cherish every single one I get to witness and experience. I could pull them out of my head and create something with those moments. A song, a painting, a story, everything is inspired by these little moments. These moments good or bad lets us know that we are all human.
Medium has also allowed me to be a contributor to various online publications. One example would be Future Travel Publications where I write travel articles to share with other writers. Here's an excerpt of my travel article entitled
" Tongue-tied in Hong Kong".
" Tongue-tied in Hong Kong".
Walking down the streets filled with Chinese signs and hearing the cantonese dialect was surprisingly welcoming. Just by uttering a few words in English and more words in my broken Mandarin, the locals would smile and the children would laugh at how silly I sounded. The shop ladies would share snacks and entice me with various bargains. The foreigners that owned restaurants selling their ethnic food would share their experience in Hong Kong whilst handing me a cup of coffee as I huddle up in a side booth.
This platform helps me to further hone my writing skills outside of school. I have also gotten the opportunity to network with other writers and content creators. By observing their works, I picked up tips on how to create better and more appealing content. The link to my medium profile is https://medium.com/@yasminganesan

Strongbow Cider (Design)
For one of my marketing projects, me and my group mates had to create a campaign for our client, Strongbow Cider. We came up with the idea of "Strongbow Connects'. Our message was that Strongbow was a platform where people can forge new connections regardless of their background.
I was in charge of designing the collaterals for the project. one concept was to show a literal sense of connection through people's hands.another series featured the silhouettes of people with Strongbow's signature splash effect in the background. This campaign has allowed me to exercise my design skills and really consider how important design is in helping the target audience understand the message of the campaign.
Yellow Ribbon Project (Social Media)
I was also in charge of the social media aspect of a project that we did with Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP). I handled the social media account that we created as pre-publicity for our YRP event. The objective of the event was to educate secondary school students on YRP and the to spread the message that ex-offenders do deserve second chances. The event was held in a fun and engaging manner with games planned out for the students.
Our social media account was done in a comic style with a student character as the "mascot" for our account and the event. We also posted videos and pictures during the event itself and held contests to engage our followers. The preparation up to the event itself lasted for about 6 weeks. Through this project, I learned more about social media engagement and the curation of content.
